Cataracts

Cataract surgery is one of the safest and most effective surgeries, particularly when a qualified surgeon is in charge and the most advanced methods are used. Awad Eye Care's surgeons are highly trained cataract specialists. At Awad Eye Care, you will be in the hands of a surgeon who is on the leading edge of medical eye care.

You will be happy to know that we use the latest phacoemulsification and foldable implants. Your affected lens will be removed and replaced with a permanent artificial lens, and you will be back to normal or near normal vision in no time.

There are two basic types of IOLs, each designed for a specific corrective function. Monofocal lenses provide corrective power in only one segment of your visual range (typically distance vision), while Multifocal lenses are designed to correct a range of vision – near through distance.

Aspheric (Monofocal) Lenses

The TECNIS® Lens is the only lens with FDA-approved claims for improved functional vision and improved night-driving simulator performance. Good functional vision is especially important when driving at night. Based on night-driving simulator results in a controlled clinical study, the TECNIS® Lens provided improved visibility that may allow for quicker reaction time, which is likely to provide a meaningful safety benefit to elderly drivers. The improvement in functional vision may also improve safety in other low-visibility situations.

Using innovative wavefront lens technology, the TECNIS® Lens can restore your vision to that of a younger person. The TECNIS® Lens can improve functional vision so you can see well, even in low-light situations like driving at night, dining by candlelight or walking in a morning fog.

Traditional intraocular lenses can restore distance vision, but they aren’t designed to bring back the balance of youthful eyes. Images may not be as sharp as they could be, and you may be left with the functional vision of a healthy older person, not of a young adult.

The AcrySof® IQ lens is designed to reduce spherical aberrations, increase contrast sensitivity, and improve functional vision. The overall result of the AcrySof® IQ lens offers these advantages over traditional spherical cataract lenses:

  • Enhanced clarity
  • Improved image quality
  • Filtered blue light for rich, vibrant color

Multifocal Lenses

Now with the advancement in high tech lens implants, there is an opportunity to correct near as well as distance vision for our cataract patients.

ReZoom™ - Unlike conventional single-vision (monofocal) lens implants, state-of-the-art ReZoom™ lenses have been specially designed with multifocal zones that provide good vision across the spectrum of varying distances and light conditions. So you can see well anywhere and anytime, be it near, far or in between. Patients no longer have to settle for monofocal lenses that only provide good distance vision with limited ability to see objects that are near without glasses.

Unlike other earlier multifocal lens designs, the ReZoom™ Multifocal Lens has proportioned the size of its zones to provide for good vision in a range of light conditions. For instance, some zones have been designed to offer greater low light/distance vision support during night driving.

AcrySof® ReSTOR® IOL is a unique technological innovation that can provide you with quality vision throughout the entire visual spectrum – near through distance – with increased independence from reading glasses or bifocals!
